A photo from The Tomorrow War shows Chris Pratt ready for battle. The original sci-fi story will follow Pratt's Dan Forester, a school teacher who must confront the ghosts of his past while fighting a futuristic battle against an alien race. Forester will team-up with his father, played by J.K. Simmons, and a scientist from the future (Yvonne Strahovski), to figure out how to stop the world from being destroyed. The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay is helming The Tomorrow War, set for release this summer.

Paramount Pictures originally intended to release The Tomorrow War in theaters on Christmas day last year, but the studio decided to sell the film to Amazon once it became clear that many theaters would remain shut down for the foreseeable future. Amazon Studios acquired the film for somewhere in the $200 million range. In anticipation of the impending release, The Tomorrow War received a teaser trailer that previews the titular battle.

Now, USA Today has released a new image from the film with Pratt front and center. In the photo, Dan Forester looks battle weary as he keeps his eyes peeled for the next threat. He's surrounded by fellow soldiers, some of whom look to be dressed in civilian garb. As with all the teasers of The Tomorrow War released thus far, the alien threat is out of the frame, with Amazon likely saving the reveal of the enemy for a full length trailer or the movie itself.

Amazon released several images from The Tomorrow War ahead of the release of the teaser, one of which gives a glimpse into the total devastation the humans are up against in their battle against the aliens. Although Amazon is keeping its main monsters a secret, the studio is steadily building up anticipation for the big reveal. The aforementioned glimpse at the ruined city and the look of fear in the soldier's eyes as they prepare to take on the unseen foe is enough to make viewers realize that this will not be an easy fight.

Holding on to the big reveal in The Tomorrow War could entice viewers to check out the film, especially those looking for big blockbuster fare this summer but still weary of going to theaters. While the nationwide vaccine rollout is still ongoing and more theaters are opening their doors and increasing their capacity, some may still prefer to check out films at home when possible. Luckily for them, The Tomorrow War will be streaming on Amazon Prime and it's unclear if the studio will be putting the film in theaters at all.
