Anakin vs Obi-Wan Prequel Battle Reimagined In Clone Wars-Style Video

A new Star Wars fan video reimagines part of Obi-Wan and Anakin’s Revenge of the Sith Mustafar battle in the style of The Clone Wars. The climactic battle between the two Jedi is generally seen as one of the high points of the prequel trilogy. The new video, which translates that fight into the animated world, has been released in celebration of Star Wars Day.

While the prequels remain heavily criticized, The Clone Wars has become a crown jewel of the Star Wars franchise. Many fans and critics have applauded the series for tweaking characters and plot points from the films to fix common criticisms. The show’s version of Anakin, played by Matt Lanter, has received particular praise. The show also introduced a number of new characters like Ahsoka Tano and Bo-Katan Kryze, and major storylines like Darth Maul’s resurrection and the tumultuous history of Mandalore.

Since The Clone Wars did such a fantastic job of mending the prequels’ flaws, it makes sense that someone might want to put the movies themselves into the show’s animated style. That’s exactly what YouTube channel Hello There has done in its new video, which shows glimpses of Obi-Wan and Anakin’s Mustafar duel in the style of The Clone Wars. The video itself is just a trailer for a much longer fan film titled Clone Wars: Battle of the Heroes, which is still being worked on. Check it out below.

Star Wars fans are nothing if not dedicated, and what Hello There has created so far looks stunning.  The Mustafar battle is one of the most iconic moments in all of Star Wars canon, and meshing it with the striking visual style of The Clone Wars is a brilliant idea. It should be exciting to see what the complete fan film looks like once it’s finished.

Fans of The Clone Wars’ particular animation style can also enjoy the first episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, which premiered on Disney+ as part of Lucasfilm’s official May 4 celebration. The new series picks up exactly where The Clone Wars left off, following the troopers of Clone Force 99 in the wake of Order 66 and the rise of the Galactic Empire. Like the video from Hello There, the Bad Batch premiere is a strong promise of exciting things to come.
