Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania scores an official February 2023 release date. Paul Rudd's pint-sized hero Ant-Man has been a part of the MCU since 2015, when he made his debut in his first solo movie. Compared to the high-stakes epics of the rest of the franchise, the Ant-Man movies have taken on a more grounded, humorous approach that has resonated with audiences. Ant-Man and the Wasp followed in 2018, and for a time it was a bit unclear if there would be a third installment. Ant-Man 3, which received its official title at Disney's Investor Day last year, was officially announced in late 2019.

Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but a few behind the scenes details have already been revealed. Director Peyton Reed will return for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will also feature a good number of familiar faces from past installments. Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer are slated to be back as the Van Dyne/Pym family, while newcomers include Jonathan Majors (reportedly as Kang the Conqueror) and Kathryn Newton as a grown Cassie Lang (taking over for Avengers: Endgame's Emma Fuhrmann).

Now another key piece of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has been revealed: Its release date. During a packed MCU trailer, Marvel Studios revealed the film will premiere on February 17, 2023. This slots it between the newly-titled The Marvels on November 11, 2022 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on May 5, 2023.

It also means Quantumania will be released almost 5 years after Ant-Man and the Wasp, making for one of the largest gaps between installments in the MCU (second only to the ones between Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and 3, and Doctor Strange and its sequel). Pfeiffer previously said the movie would be released in 2022, but the MCU already has four movies scheduled for that year, as well as multiple Disney+ projects. By pushing it to early 2023, Marvel has given Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania the chance to kick off another year for the franchise. This will be the first Ant-Man movie released outside of July, and it will be interesting to see how it fares in February.

Filming on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is expected to begin sometime this month and stretch into September, though it remains to be seen if that will be changed when considering its 2023 release. As it moves further into Phase 4, the MCU is scheduling more and more movies each year, and it can be assumed there will be additional 2023 projects announced at a later date. Fantastic Four, which was once again teased in the Marvel trailer, just might be one of them. For the time being, though, fans can pencil in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania for early 2023 and start those countdowns. The future of the MCU is finally taking shape.
