Netflix announces the release dates for 13 of its new movies set to hit the streaming platform this summer. Netflix's first original film Beasts of No Nation was released in 2014. Since then, Netflix's original films have grown significantly in popularity over the years. Some of the most successful original Netflix movies include The Irishman, Bird Box and Extraction. Netflix has also had a fair bit of success with teen rom coms like To All The Boys I Loved Before and The Kissing Booth.

Netflix already has released a number of hit series and features in 2021. Some 2021 Netflix features that have gained traction include Stowaway, Moxie, I Care A Lot and To All The Boys Always and Forever. However, Netflix has released more series than features thus far including Firefly Lane, Bridgerton, Shadow and Bone, The One, The Irregulars and Ginny & Georgia. That is all about to change as the summer approaches. Viewers were anticipating the release of the sequel The Kissing Booth 3, thriller Sweet Girl with Jason Mamoa and America: The Motion Picture animated film with a slew over A-listers. However, it appears there is more in store than viewers anticipated.

Netflix confirmed the release dates for 13 of its new, original movies in Summer 2021. Netflix has big plans for June and announced the release date for a whopping nine movies. Check out the list below:

Carnaval: June 2

Awake: June 9

Wish Dragon: June 11

Skater Girl: June 11

Fatherhood: June 18

Jagame Thandhiram: June 18

Good on Paper: June 23

The Ice Road: June 25

America: The Motion Picture: June 30

Restort for Love: July 29

The Last Mercenary: July 30

Sweet Girl: August 20

He's All That: August 27

Even though the release dates haven't been announced yet, Fear Street Trilogy, Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal and Greed, The Loud House Movie, The House of Flowers: The Movie, Blood Red Sky, Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans, The Last Letter From Your Lover, The Kissing Booth 3 and Beckett will all hit the streaming platform this summer. While Netflix has been making a conscious effort to increase its original content over the years, this seems like a new record of new releases for the platform. With 21 movie releases in one summer, Netflix is certainly using an ambitious approach. Hopefully, the quality of content won't suffer due to the high quantity.

Netflix seems to be intent on making up for a year of not being able to produce as much new content due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is also possible that Netflix is trying to contend with HBO Max who is releasing all of Warner Bros.'s motion picture releases for 2021. This is likely Netflix's effort to pull ahead in the never-ending war between streaming platforms. It's hard to say whether it'll be enough to contend with HBO Max's big Warner Bros. releases or Disney+'s upcoming Marvel releases. Regardless, movie lovers have plenty to look forward to this summer.
