Gal Gadot Shares Wild Story About Accidentally Cutting Her Finger

Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot revealed that she accidentally chopped off the tip of her finger while cooking. A key member of the DCEU, Gadot first joined the superhero universe in the 2016 film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. A year later, her solo movie Wonder Woman introduced viewers to the origins of the kind-hearted, resilient Amazon princess Diana. The blockbuster hit, directed by Patty Jenkins, garnered critical praise for its entertaining and thoughtful storytelling. Since then, Gadot has reprised her role in multiple DC films, including Justice League, Wonder Woman 1984, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

After struggling with multiple delayed release dates due to the pandemic, Wonder Woman 1984 debuted on HBO Max in December. Many fans celebrated the return of Gadot’s Diana Prince, particularly appreciating her savvy, warm characterization of the beloved superhero. At the same time, the highly anticipated sequel received mixed reviews overall, partially due to its muddled plot and crowded cast of characters. Despite this recent critical disappointment, Gadot’s Wonder Woman remains a fan-favorite member of the Justice League. A third film following her journey is currently in production, as well as a spinoff centered on the Amazons of Themyscira.

While speaking to Jimmy Kimmel, Gadot shared that she inadvertently cut off the top part of her finger while trying to make a salad. She detailed what led to this unexpected, painful kitchen mishap:

"The early days of pandemic when you start drinking mimosas or sangria or whatever at 11 a.m., so I did that, and then I decided I'm gonna make a cabbage salad because that's what one wants to do, so I started to chop the thing, and I chopped the top of my finger. Yaron went to the chopping board and he held the finger and he got so disgusted that he threw it into the garbage disposal."

According to Gadot, her husband, Yaron Varsano, panicked when he witnessed what happened and tossed the tip of her finger into the garbage disposal without thinking. When Kimmel asked her if she went to the hospital, Gadot responded, "No, because it was in the garbage disposal, so there was nothing to sew. It's too much information, I apologize. I feel too comfortable with you." She explained that her injury has fully healed, although she still does not have feeling in her finger.

Fortunately, Gadot seemed to be in good spirits, laughing about the story with self-deprecating cheer. Like the Amazonian warrior princess in Wonder Woman, Gadot managed to recover from an unexpected physical wound, even if she did not receive the mark in battle. At the end of the day, even superheroes are human.
