Amazon Studios has closed a deal with Skydance for the Chris Pratt-led sci-fi feature “The Tomorrow War”.

Delayed from a 2020 holiday release via Paramount Pictures due to COVID, the Chris McKay-helmed big-budget film will now have its debut on the streaming service on July 2nd.

In the film time travelers come to the present day to tell mankind that in the future they are losing a global war against a deadly alien species. They must recruit soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future to join the fight.

Pratt plays high school teacher and family man Dan Forester who is determined to save the world for his young daughter. He teams up with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons).

Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson and Edwin Hodge also star in the movie which joins last month’s “Coming 2 America” and this month’s “Without Remorse” as high profile film debuts on the service.
